ATEX Batteries

Custom ATEX Batteries for OEM’s

Design, certification and manufacture of batteries is a critical part of developing equipment intended for use in hazardous areas (ATEX/IECEx). Creasefield has extensive experience with the intrinsic safety (Ex ia/Ex ib) and flameproof (Ex d) protection concepts commonly used in battery powered devices.

Our ATEX/IECEx battery experience shortens development and testing time, providing assistance with battery design, component selection and integration into the end product, ready for release to mass production in our UK-based ISO80079 certified manufacturing site. (image of SIRA logo/certificate)

Examples of projects previously delivered:

  • Remote monitoring
  • Handheld crack detectors and non-destructive testing (NDT)
  • Hazardous area UPS
  • Personal gas detectors
  • Hazardous area PPE
  • Mining cap lamps

Case Study

Manually monitoring corrosion in refinery pipelines presents significant dangers to inspectors working in hazardous areas. A remote monitoring system means no need to shut down plant, no cost for repeat measurements and no need to send personnel to high-risk areas, but requires a high capacity intrinsically-safe battery designed and manufactured to work safely in demanding environments.

Development and certification of the battery system in partnership between Creasefield, Permasense and Tadiran Batteries allowed the design parameters to be met successfully ready for product launch. Read the Permasense case study on our downloads page.
